Classifying Architecture Across Town

Houses Distinctions: Defining Architecture across town.

How can you differentiate between a simple house and a modernn house? A simple house may have a fence (muro) of low to medium height, generally less than 1 m or more than the height of a man 🧒 of medium estature, 1,70 m. Tall fences can have up to 2,5 m in height.

Buildings in general come with a foundation and a base (fundação), a floor (chão) 🛤. Walls (Paredes) 🧱 with fillings. And a roof (telhado) ⛩️ and in places more developed like typical in America where required by law to protect habitants from the weather is necessary, sub-roofs are created (forros), these are structures supported by walls and by the roof, horizontal, paralalel to the floor, complementary structures that form that total roof structure (teto).

These houses can have a garage, a patio, wash area, a front, side or back yard or combination of these areas. For simpler residences, they tend to be in smaller scale than the second category of houses we'd like to present in this text and namely call it "Modern Houses."

Modern Houses 🏘 will be very much the same as a simpler house in the elements it has and we listed. But they can be seen as more of a box building in the element of style. A house with glass windows, and tall walls and fences, generally taller than that's said for Simple Houses 🏠.

They are most often more recently painted, and are often decorated with wood 🪵, stones 🪨, granite, or other rocks that can give textures like tiles to walls and floors alongside coating of liquids that protect and can give shine.

In Brazil, like in our community of Pires do Rio 🌐, this text proposes a way of scaling between these small to large scale on how to draw some of the residences in the city.

For a person 🤠 that lived here or would try to know more about the city some of the questions we have are, the number of houses and how were they built.

The date of built, materials used and size of total construction ⚠️ are factors important in considering what houses stay and which ones give way to new structures even if a green park 🏕.

Besides the structure, the infrastructure of the building is considered: water ⛲️, electricity, internet, gas ♨️, car access 🚙, sewage, trash collection. Different sectors in town have different solutions to its customers. How is your neighborhood being covered?

In this photo, for this outdoor patio, what's missing on the teto's build up? Do you notice there's no forro but only a telhado?
